Preview – Sky1’s Trollied

A while ago, Sky announced they were going to launch a major investment in original British programming. Trollied, which premieres with its first two episodes tonight, is the first major product of that investment and it turns out, is a winning product of the investment.

The first thing that struck me about this show was that it has an edge. There is swearing, which is something I wasn’t really expecting, to be honest. Secondly, I struggled to figure out what the show is meant to be. I went into it thinking it was a sitcom but it plays as a mild sketch show at times. Because the scenes are fast paced. This doesn’t become a big problem but if you lose concentration for a second while watching you will miss a scene.

Overall, there are good characters, there are more average jokes than good jokes but there are enough good jokes to make it funny, and there are some great actors. All in all, it is a success.

Trollied premieres tonight at 9pm on Sky1
