News – ITV Announce Who Will Play Young Inspector Morse in ‘Endeavour’

A few days ago we reported ITV are making an Inspector Morse Prequel film called Endeavour. Today, ITV have released the name of the actor they have chosen to play the young version of Endeavour Morse…

Former The Take and Monroe actor Shaun Evans is to play the young Morse.

Laura Mackie, head of ITV Drama Commissions has said: “Inspector Morse was a television institution and nearly 14 million people tuned in to watch the final episode in 2000 when Colin Dexter’s eponymous hero died from a heart attack. Endeavour is a beautifully written story that not only provides many nods to Morse’s unique character traits for fans but re-unites many of the team behind the original series.”

Shaun Evans has said “Morse as a young man is a wonderful character that I’m very excited to be playing. My hope is that we can compliment what’s come before, by telling a great story, and telling it well.”

Russell Lewis, who has been a writer on Inspector Morse, is penning the episode. It is being made to mark the 25th anniversary of Inspector Morse’s first episode. Filming will take place in Oxford later this year for a 2012 premiere.

We will have promo pics very soon…
